Wynn Resorts’ highly anticipated integrated resort in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) may include two casinos, one more than expected, and it could potentially expand to three with time.

Located in Ras Al Khaimah, the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort is currently under construction and is expected to open in early 2027. Speaking at the Exotic Wedding Planning Conference in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday, 27 February, David Loiseau, vice president of sales at the venue, revealed that the property could feature two or even three distinct landbased casinos.

There will be two or three areas when it comes to gaming. We’ll have a sky gaming casino on the 22nd floor and the main casino. We’re putting all the ingredients together to make sure that entertainment will be at the heart of this destination.”

A Touch of Las Vegas in the UAE

Loiseau clarified that Wynn Resorts is not simply replicating the Las Vegas experience in Ras Al Khaimah but he did suggest that elements from its flagship properties could influence the design and experience of the UAE location.

The primary casino at Wynn Al Marjan Island is expected to span 224,000 square feet, making it larger than the gaming floor at Wynn Las Vegas. However, this still represents only a small fraction of the resort’s overall size.

Earlier projections estimated that the casino would occupy just 4% of the total 5.6 million square feet of Wynn Al Marjan Island. Similar to its properties in Las Vegas and Macau, Wynn Resorts is focusing on entertainment and luxury amenities rather than making gambling the dominant attraction, which is probably one of the main reasons the company was able to secure approval in the traditionally anti-gambling region.

Initially, the resort’s blueprints did not mention a secondary gaming area. However, now Wynn Resorts has confirmed that a sky gaming casino is a real possibility, though a third gaming space is not currently in development.

In a statement, the company revealed that as well as a main gaming floor, there will also be “an upper floor private gaming area, or salon privé, which is common in integrated resorts.”

Wynn's UAE Casino Advantage

In October 2023, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) issued Wynn Resorts its gaming license. Despite this, Wynn does not need to rely solely on casino operations to drive revenue.

One key advantage for Wynn is the likelihood of enjoying a monopoly for the foreseeable future. The GCGRA is not expected to grant additional casino licenses in the near term, which gives Wynn a real competitive edge.

Additionally, the resort will offer far more than gaming, featuring 1,500 luxury hotel rooms, nearly two dozen restaurants and nightlife venues, an entertainment space, and other high-end attractions designed to draw visitors from around the world.
