Work to Begin on Temporary Structures for Las Vegas F1 Weekend
Next month, June 2023, construction will begin on temporary structures that will house spectators for the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix weekend.
Vanessa Anthes, the vice president of event operations for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, said that construction of the grandstands and hospitality areas is set to start on June 5. She said that they would start with the temporary hospitality structures and then begin on the fan zones and, finally the paddock building.
Construction on the North Koval Zone will begin on June 5 and then the South Koval Zone on July 5. Work on the East Harmon Zone is set to begin on August 1, the MSG Sphere Zone on August 7, and finally the West Harmon Zone on September 5. Construction is set to continue throughout the summer until the event itself on November 16.
The first Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend is taking place on November 16 to 18. It will see drivers race along a 3.8-mile track surrounding the Strip that includes Las Vegas Boulevard, Harmon and Sands avenues, and Koval Lane.
According to Steve Hill, the president, and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, there is a chance of small construction-related road impacts during the load in and loud out of the spectator zones, but they are not expected to be significant.
It’s minimal from a construction of these facilities standpoint. Most of that is on Harmon, Koval, and around the Sphere, and it will be, for the most part, on private property. It will be a little disruptive for the folks on the private property, but not really very much from a road impact standpoint.
It is expected that the deconstruction of the temporary structures will take roughly two months, and the work is set to be finished on January 15.
