What Happens in Vegas Should Stay in Vegas

Mid Suffolk Council in the UK have announced a resolution which means that no casinos can be built for the next three years.
The resolution was passed with a vote of sixteen to twelve.

The SnOasis leisure company first tabled the plans for a leisure complex which included a casino several years ago, but those plans were eventually cancelled.
The anti-casino stance of the council has been adopted so that any future developers will know that any plans which include any kind of casino will not be given the go ahead.
This view is shared across the council, no matter which political party is represented with the Green councilor Oliver Amorowson stating, "What happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas” with Tory councilor Barry Humphreys adding, “I think this is a golden opportunity to say no,” and “we need to protect our residents from that threat of gambling.”
The UK Government has a strict limit on the amount of casino licenses they authorize which comprises of eight small, eight large and one regional.
Not all councilors agreed with the ruling, Conservative councilor Kathie Guthrie said, “There are no licenses, there are very unlikely to be any licenses, and if we have to pass this resolution it’s going to be a cost to the council.” with Conservative John Whitehead adding, “that it was “a slippery slope” to rejecting other activities such as the sale of lottery tickets or new betting shops.”
