UKGC Introduces New and Effective Way of Applying for Personal License
A new service has been launched in the United Kingdom by the Gambling Commission, making it more effective to apply for a personal license. The new service has been given the name of “Apply for a Personal License,” and this will consolidate all applications for personal management licenses (PML) as well as personal functional licenses (PFL). Annex A approvals are also included alongside these.
Through the new system, the Commission said that licenses are able to be processed in a swifter way, and this will be supported by an updated processing tool.
This process was created as a way of the Commission committing to its promise to improve various regulatory setups. Published in December of 2020, the Commission is looking for a review of the Gambling Act 2005, and this move is one of the first changes it wants to make.
However, the results of that review will only be published towards the end of 2021. Through that review, there will be many different areas relating to gambling that will have been looked at, and this will include the roles and powers of the Commission itself. Some have called for adjustments to the authority ruling over the gambling scene in the UK. However, the likelihood is that the Commission will want to maintain its position.
That review has asked 45 different questions which surround three core objectives. These include queries about advertising, as well as bonuses, while outright changes to the gambling regulations are also being scrutinized.
I am very pleased that we can continue to automate our licensing services by making it easier to apply but also quicker to process. This new service is a good example of delivering positive outcomes for users through collaboration between our licensing and digital teams.
