Two Police Officers Injured at Hollywood Casino
This past Saturday, at about 4:38 am ET, two police officers suffered minor injuries while working special duty at Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio.

According to Brian Steel, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9’s President, this occurred while trying to bring Corey Newman, 26, into custody after he refused to leave the property.
Of the injuries, one officer suffered a sprained elbow and cuts to his hands. Per court records, the man was "pulled away from officers, wrestled with officers, and refused to give up his hands.”
The man is now facing two felony charges related to obstructing official business. During his arraignment this past Monday, he was issued a $4,000 bond.

Comments from Lodge 9 President
Steel released a statement on X regarding the situation:
“Early this morning, two CPD officers working special duty at Hollywood Casino sustained minor injuries while taking a drunk and disorderly individual into custody. Both officers were treated and released.
This is yet another reminder of the challenges our officers face every day, even in off-duty roles. The FOP stands firmly behind our dedicated officers and the critical work they do to keep our community safe. Stay safe out there—we’ve got your back!”
As mentioned, the officers were working “special duty,” meaning that the casino hired them to work early Saturday morning. This type of role is for off-duty officers who provide services such as security, traffic control, or escorts. As of now, Hollywood Casino Columbus hasn’t provided any comment on the matter.
