Two Lucky Ticket Holders Claim Seventh Largest Powerball Jackpot
After about two months and over 38 draws, the Powerball jackpot, which has increased to $630 million, finally found winners in the last draw on Wednesday.
The staggering jackpot prize is the seventh-largest jackpot in Powerball history and was won by two ticket holders who will now split the jackpot prize evenly- $316.3 million (before taxes).
The winners who purchased their tickets from California and Wisconsin drew the winning ticket numbers of 6, 14, 25, 33, 46, with a red Powerball of 17 to secure the prize.
The players can either receive their prize money through one hefty full payment or annual payments over 29 years. Winners that opt-in for the second option will get a 5 percent increase on their payments every year.
Apart from the Powerball jackpot prize, the last draw witnessed over three million ticket holders winning different prizes ranging from $4 million to a couple of thousand dollars.
Twelve players from California, Florida, Arizona, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, and Texas hit Match 5, won $1 million each.
Seventy-seven players hit the Match 4 and the red Powerball and won $50,000 apiece. 13 players who hit the Match 4 and the red Powerball with 2x Power Play purchase would receive $100,000 before taxes.
After being won in the last draw, the Powerball Jackpot will reset to a default prize of $20 million, with the cash option of $14.2 million. It costs $2 to purchase a Powerball ticket.
