At the ceremony, construction teams of the ongoing Hard Rock International project hoisted the final steel beam and fixed it to the top of the building, an important milestone in the construction process. This tradition, originating from an ancient Scandinavian practice of placing a tree atop a completed structure, honors the hard work and dedication of the construction crews.

Before its installation, the steel beam was brought to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon site, where team members were invited to sign it as part of the celebration. On-site workers also had the chance to add their signatures, symbolizing their personal contribution to the project.

Casino to Open in Late 2025

The project will cover over 700,000 square feet, with 150,000 square feet dedicated to gaming. The casino will house 3,000 slot machines, 48 table games, and video poker. The first phase will also include various dining choices, such as a signature Hard Rock Cafe and the upscale Council Oak Steaks and Seafood.

The second phase, which will take an additional 20 months to complete, includes a 400-room hotel, more fine dining, a pool, spa, cigar lounge, and a 2,800-seat Hard Rock Live venue for concerts, comedy shows, and sporting events. The property will also display Hard Rock’s famous memorabilia throughout.

Phase I of the project is expected to be finished by the end of 2025, with Phase II following 20 months later, which will complete the hotel and casino.

Project to Generate Thousands of Jobs

Approximately 2,000 construction-related jobs will be created by the project, managed by the Penta Building Group. When fully operational, the casino and hotel are projected to generate about 5,000 jobs, both full-time and part-time, directly and indirectly.

The topping off ceremony represents the completion of a building’s structure, but it also symbolizes much more; it signifies the strength of teamwork, the foundation of future growth, and the community impact this project will have. We look forward to the grand opening in 2025. I also want to thank all the hard-working team members on the construction side who have made our project a success and for your efforts in building a world-class project in Kern County.
