Thousands Donated to Ukraine by Gambling Firms

The global gaming industry began a fundraiser in early March to support the people of Ukraine, and so far, it has raised more than £190,000 of its £250,000 target.

The ‘Gaming Industry For Ukraine’ initiative has seen broad support from across the industry. So far, Betsson Group (STO: BETS-B) has made the largest donation (£50,000), while both Games Global and Microgaming have donated £10,000.

The founder and chief executive of Alea, Alexandre Tomic, has pledged £10,000, and Jonas Ornstein, a former industry professional, has contributed £7,500. Other notable contributors include OLBG, Better Collective, Just for the Win, Enteractive, Funfair Games, FSB Technology, Sports Media Holdings, Fast Track, Cash Magnet, Green Jade Games, Continent8 Games, Clarion Gaming, Beyond Play, SBC and VIXIO, and many more.

The proceeds are being donated to Choose Love’s Ukraine Crisis Fundraise, which has set an aim of raising £2.5 million and has already raised more than £1 million.

The past week has also seen a number of gambling companies cut their ties with Russian clients in response to the war. LeoVegas has stopped all betting on Russian and Belarusian sports, while Genius Sports Group has suspended its operations in Russia and Belarus.

Parimatch Tech has announced that it is to withdraw its franchise from Russia. Parimatch was founded in Ukraine in 1994, and its main development center is in Kyiv.

Another company to take a stand is Aspire Global, which has terminated its contract with Sports Lotteries LLC, the operator of the Russian National Lottery.

It was also announced by Aristocrat Leisure that the company had provided help to more than two-thirds of its employees and their families from Ukraine-based business units of its Pixel United mobile social gaming division.

Playson has also come out in support of its Ukrainian staff for their efforts during the ongoing invasion and revealed that a number of employees have signed up to join Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
