The Latest Pledges and Donations to Gamble Aware Revealed
GambleAware, one of the UK‘s leading gambling charities, has released details of the donations which they have received in the three months leading up to June 30th this year.
A total of $3.2 million was received, with $2.7 million of that coming from global sports betting and gaming company, Entain (LON: ENT).
Licensed gambling businesses in the UK are required by current legislation to donate a percentage of their profits in the form of donations to aid research and education on the subject of problem gambling.
Licensed operators who are making a profit from any form of gambling are asked to donate a minimum of 0.1% of their gross gambling yield.
The generous donation by Entain dwarfs the size of contributions by rival operators, with Videoslots and Broadway Gaming coming in with the next largest donations of $69,000 and $41,000, respectively.
These figures compare favorably with the donations which were made in the first quarter of 2021, with Star Racing contributing $29,000, Virgin Bet $23,500, and Intouch games making three contributions totaling $19,600.
GambleAware also announced that they received pledges from various operators such as $91,000 from BetVictor, $13,900 from Mansion Holdings, and $7,000 from NOVOMATIC.
Any further pledges and donations which have been pledged or received after June 30th will be made public in October of this year.
