Swiss Gaming Regulators Extend Blocklist to 40 iGaming Sites
The Swiss gaming regulators Eidgenössische Spielbankenkommission (ESBK) and GESPA have reportedly expanded their blocklists to include about 50 online gambling sites and a domain redirecting to bet365.
The blocklist holds dire consequences for the affected online casinos in Sweden because the internet providers in the state will block all the sites, and residents will not be able to access them anymore.
GESPA’s latest blacklist includes 18 sites with notable mentions like betting exchange, Matchbook.com, cryptokitties.co, betadonis.com, online sportsbook, csgoempire.com, escowin10.com, and bahigo64.com - a site owned by the Bahigo brand, making it the 11th Bahigo site blocklisted by the Swiss government in two years.
ESBK added a total number of 31 sites to its blocklist, including five Wild Tornado sites, two Bahigo domains, six PlayAmo brands, and other sites like ejackpotcrypto.com and spinia13.com.
288-563.com, the site that redirects to bet365.com, appeared on both lists. bet365, Parimatch, and several other top gambling sites were among the first gaming sites blocked by Swiss authorities after the government regulated the market.
In late 2019, the Swiss government set a deadline for all online gambling operators to stop offering real money bets in their jurisdiction. After the deadline passed, the Swiss Lottery and Betting Board published their first lists containing the aforementioned online casinos.
To date, offering money games within Switzerland or from abroad is illegal under the Federal Act on Gambling and subject to prosecution under criminal law.
