With the license, Starcasino can now legally offer online slots and live casino games to players in the Netherlands. Established in 2015, Starcasino has since grown into a leading online gambling provider in its home country. The operator’s Belgian platform boasts an extensive library of slots and a live casino featuring content from leading developers like Evolution, Playtech, and Pragmatic Play. The gambling company will introduce these titles to the Dutch market as it hopes to secure a footing in the already competitive online gaming landscape.

However, Starcasino has not announced when it will launch in the country.

Today we received good news: Green Island has officially received the license from the Gaming Authority for our Starcasino brand! We have already gained quite some experience with licenses in Spain and Belgium, so we are ready to become successful in the Netherlands as well. With our own in-house platform, we can offer players in the Netherlands something unique and, above all, responsible. When are we going live? Of course, we want to do that as soon as possible, but we also want to set everything up properly. So, stay tuned!

New Dutch Gaming Rules Implemented

Starcasino becomes a player in the Dutch iGaming market as the industry embarks on a new era of regulation characterized by stricter standards and enhanced player protection.

On October 1, the new rules designed to protect Dutch online gamblers came into effect, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to create a safe online gaming environment.

One of the new regulations is the imposition of deposit thresholds that apply to a player’s net deposits over a calendar month. If a player’s net deposit exceeds €700 within the month, they cannot make further deposits until the next month.

The new rules were introduced in response to the worrying increase in problem gambling cases in the Netherlands.

In July, the LADIS report revealed that gambling ranks fifth in terms of problematic behavior, as it affects nearly 3.8% of the Dutch population.
