Square in the Air Announces Promotion of Ben Cleminson to CEO
Square in the Air, one of the leading marketing and communications agencies in the betting and gaming industry, has promoted Ben Cleminson to CEO.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Another big leadership change related to this one will be the founder and former Managing Director Bill Esdaile moving to the role of Chairman. Cleminson, who was the first to join the firm in 2007, has been instrumental in growing Square in the Air alongside Esdaile and the management team. The agency now boasts a full-service marketing portfolio with clients worldwide and a team of over 50 employees located in London, Manchester, and New York.
Further High Level Changes of Staff
As part of the company’s restructuring, former Director Ollie Drew, who has been with Square in the Air since 2009, is now the Chief Operating Officer. Robin Hutchison, another former Director who joined the agency in 2012, steps into the role of Chief Commercial Officer.
The revamped leadership team will report to Esdaile, who founded Square in the Air in 2006. Presently, the agency oversees key accounts such as Star Sports, Timeform, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (B2C), Pragmatic Play, Games Global, Codere Online, Light & Wonder + OpenBet, Blueprint Gaming, White Hat Gaming, and Simplebet (B2B).

17 Years of Growth
Reflecting on his new role, Cleminson commented on how it is almost exactly 17 years since he began working in a side office in a house near Stoke on his first day with the company.
Although we haven’t enjoyed quite the same growth as the nearby bet365, it has been an incredible journey, and I don’t think Bill or I could ever have imagined back then where we’d be today. I know both Ollie and Robin would agree with me when I say that Bill has been the most incredible mentor and leader, and personally, I am truly honored to step up into the CEO role. We have a brilliant roster of clients and a hugely talented team who push themselves every day to think creatively and strategically, always focused on delivering results. We’ll continue to do that and more.
Bill Esdaile, who was a founder of the company, said that he has been lucky to have the support of Cleminson, Drew, and Hutchison and that now is the right time for him to move to the new role of Chairman where he can “still strategically be involved but allow the three of them their chance to run the business.”
