Special Focus on Responsible Gambling at SBC Summit Barcelona
Preparations continue apace for the SBC Summit Barcelona. This year’s summit is to focus on safer gambling and hundreds of iGaming professionals will come together to discuss gambling harm prevention and work towards a better understanding of responsible gambling.
Visitors to the dedicated “Player Protection” exhibition space at the iGaming event will be able to meet representatives from companies such as YGAM, GamCare, Gamban, Epic Risk Management, Mindway, and more.
The iGaming event’s agenda also includes several sessions on responsible gambling. For example, the CEO of Mindway AI, Rasmus Kjærgaard, will give a presentation on how gambling operators can make use of AI to help player protection. He will introduce a “virtual psychologist” approach that his company has developed with GameScanner. He will also look at how US-facing operators can make use of the experience garnered by European operators.
There will be a panel session dedicated to the challenges faced by US operators as they aim for the balance between player safety and growth. On the panel will be Bill Pascrell III (Partner, Princeton Public Affairs Group), Alan Feldman (Distinguished Fellow, Responsible Gaming, UNLV | Senior Advisor, MGM Resorts International), Dan Spencer (Director of Safer Gambling, EPIC Risk Management), Brianne Doura-Schawohl (Founder & CEO, Doura-Schawohl Consulting LLC) and Jaime Debono (Managing Director, iGaming Academy).
There will be a further session on the topic on affordability checks with speakers such as Shelley White (CEO, Responsible Gambling Council), Warren Russell (Founder & CEO, W2), Šimon Vincze (Sustainable and Safer Gambling Lead, Casino Guru), and Matthew Hickey (CEO, Gordon Moody).
An additional panel will examine the trend of toughening regulations, including player registries, data-sharing requirements, and advanced KYC and compliance checks. There will also be a great deal of attention given to the Review of the UK Gambling Act 2005. Speaking about it will be Guy Harding (Commercial Strategy & Safer Gambling Director, OddsChecker), Sophie Platts (Head of Safer Gambling and External Affairs, Entain Group), Adam Doyle (Head of Gaming, TruNarrative) and Tom Banks (Head of Corporate Affairs UK/ Global, Kindred).
We have built a separate ‘Player Protection Stage’ to host discussions on the ever-important issue of problem gambling. The industry needs to remain vigilant in educating itself on harm prevention strategies, especially given the highly-fragmented ecosystem we’re experiencing.
