The gambling and sports betting industry is undergoing significant digital transformation, aiming to utilize all available innovations while prioritizing player safety. Ensuring player protection remains a critical focus despite the rapid technological advancements in the industry.

SBC Empowers Safer Gambling and Player Protection

This significant event, expected to host 25,000 industry professionals, will be held from September 24-26 at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa. The Player Protection Zone is designed to provide delegates with the opportunity to explore the next generation of safeguarding systems and products. It will also enable participants to connect with leading, safer gambling service providers and associations. Some of the confirmed brands include Crucial Compliance, EPIC, GamCare, Gamble Alert, Gordon Moody, Mindway AI, Neccton, and more. This zone will also have seamless access to a Food Festival, offering a variety of catering options and a dedicated lounge area, enhancing the networking experience.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO & Founder of SBC, emphasized the importance of this initiative:

The online space has brought a wealth of innovations to the industry, from advanced betting platforms to new marketing avenues. However, with each innovation, there is always a risk that a small minority may seek to exploit it. The goal of this zone is to educate companies on best practices, tools, and strategies to ensure responsible gambling and safeguard players. This includes teaching them how to monitor player behavior and protect vulnerable groups, educating them on current regulations and legal requirements, and encouraging them to connect with experts who can help enhance their protective measures.

Delegates attending the summit can expect three days of in-depth discussions addressing the latest issues impacting the player protection sector. On the first day, the focus will be on the future impacts of emerging technology on responsible gambling strategies, the effective use of data by operators to support at-risk players, increased regulatory scrutiny, and how collaboration with influencers can promote safe and profitable player interactions.

The second day will center on compliance leaders’ strategies to maintain thorough oversight, how technology suppliers are integrating safer gambling initiatives into their products, and the similarities and differences in player protection across various markets. Panels will also discuss the potential benefits and drawbacks of affordability checks and loss limits, and how operators can use technology, self-regulation, and partnerships to enhance regulatory framework implementation.
