Residents Traveling to Indianapolis Ahead of New Haven Casino Hearing
On Wednesday, a committee hearing will be held regarding a proposed casino in New Haven. A large group of residents on both sides of the aisle will be in attendance, who are for and against it.
New Haven Residents Show Support for Casino Project
Zack Sand, a representative of the All In On New Haven campaign, highlighted the strong turnout of local residents backing the proposed casino project.
More than 100 residents have shown up, and we’re especially proud that so many New Haven locals are voicing their support. They’re all in for the property tax rebate, the jobs, the restaurants, and the live entertainment the casino will bring.
Ahead of the public hearing, Sand added that supporters would be gathering for a rally to reinforce enthusiasm for the project. “We’re rallying our supporters to show just how much this development means to the community,” he said.
The Coalition For A Better Allen County, a group against the casino, will also like to be heard. On their website, they have information for what to do if you’re on their side.
The site reads “Headed to Indy?” and then lists seven steps in all capital letters:

Allen County Residents Rally Against $500M Casino Proposal
Kristen Bissontz, an Allen County resident, said a group of local opponents will be traveling to the upcoming public hearing to voice their concerns about the proposed casino project.
“There’s going to be a group from Allen County heading down,” Bissontz said. “A couple of vans full, along with others from central Indiana and Indianapolis, all opposed to the casino.”
The hearing, scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Indiana Statehouse, will be the first open forum where residents can share their views and provide testimony to the committee.
Our goal is to present some of the personal stories and data we’ve gathered. We’re just a grassroots organization.
The debate over the proposed $500 million casino has intensified in recent weeks. Polls indicate that 54% of “informed respondents” support the project, though opponents dispute those findings. In January, a pro-casino group collected approximately 1,500 signatures in favor of the development.
