Racecourse Media Group Appoints Nick Mills as New CEO

The Racecourse Media Group (RMG), the cooperative group of United Kingdom (UK) racetracks, has announced the appointment of Nick Mills as its new Chief Executive Officer, in an internal move within the organization.

Mills has nearly two decades of service at the RMG currently holding the post of Chief Commercial Officer since 2020. He joined the group in 2005 and has comprehensive experience in sales, marketing, and media rights in various leadership roles. Before joining the RMG, Mills gained further experience of the UK racing industry with a seven year spell at the bookmakers Coral, were he started his career in 1998.

He will take over at the start of November from Martin Stevenson who indicated to RMG in July that he would be leaving the company. The appointment of Mills concludes a comprehensive three-month process to name the company's new CEO. Senior leadership at RMG expressed their gratitude to Stevenson for his contribution to the business over 17 years in his roles as CEO and formerly Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and acknowledged he had left the group in a strong position.

Mills Ready to Lead RMG in the Next Chapter

RMG is the representative organization for the media rights of 35 racecourses in the UK and includes Aintree, Epsom, and Cheltenham. These three racetracks alone feature some of the biggest races in the UK racing calendar, including the English Derby, the Grand National meeting, and the Cheltenham Festival meeting.

In the statement, the group has outlined it wants to achieve growth and to focus on potential innovation that can be introduced into the business. Nick Mills is seen as a key member of the personnel who has demonstrated the skills during his long service at the group to help RMG achieve this strategy.

Part of the growth the group is seeking can be seen in a deal last year when RMG launched its horseracing service on SSBTs available to bookmakers throughout the UK.
