Playtech and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) have begun a multi-year partnership focused on improving responsible gambling practices through the use of the latest technologies.

The collaboration combines the resources of Playtech and UNLV’s International Gaming Institute (IGI) to explore shared areas of interest and harness the expertise of both entities.

Founded in 1994, the IGI at UNLV is known for providing research-based solutions and education to the international gaming industry. A significant focus of this initiative will be using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve safer gambling practices. Playtech has committed financial support to a project led by the IGI, which aims to use AI to develop chatbots that encourage responsible betting, particularly amongst sports bettors. Additionally, Playtech is sponsoring an internship program at the IGI’s Center for Gaming Innovation, known as the Gaming Manufacturing Internship Program.

The partnership is part of a wider effort to use technology to improve the gambling industry and provide players with a more sustainable and safer environment.
