Hellmuth was part of a high-stakes game featuring several popular gamblers, including Humboldt Mike, Nik Airball, Jean-Robert Bellande, Matt Hanks, Alan Keating, and Ryan Feldman, co-owner of Hustler Casino Live.

Heavy Losses Precede Outburst

During the $200/$400 no-limit hold ’em game, Hellmuth suffered significant losses, which ultimately led to his sudden departure. Despite a strong start, he lost several hands, and the comments from other players pushed him over the edge.

The trouble began when Hellmuth held an Ace and King of Heart against Feldman’s pair of Queens. After needing to rebuy an additional $30,000, Hellmuth’s frustration boiled over. He lashed out, saying, “F*****g morons running like this against me, it’s unbelievable.” He also criticized Feldman, stating, “The weird s**t you get away playing with.”

Phil Hellmuth’s irritation continued during an interview with Natalie Bode, where he vented his frustration. Although he managed to calm down temporarily, another blowup soon followed, prompting him to leave the table.

The final straw came when Mike, holding a pair of Jacks, challenged Hellmuth’s entire stack. Hellmuth had an Ace and a Queen, and the flop appeared favorable with an Ace, seven, and nine. However, the turn and river cards brought an eight and a Jack, giving Mike a winning three of a kind. Hellmuth responded with a terse, “Nice hand.”

Comments Send Things Over the Edge

Mike’s subsequent comment, “Phil, I’ve got an address if you need to send some (money),” infuriated Hellmuth. He jumped up and confronted Mike, saying, “Buddy, I told you, alright, you want me to quit? I’m going to f**king quit. I can’t play with you anymore. You are such an a**hole.”

Hellmuth added that he didn’t mind losing but was upset by Mike’s remarks. “No, you’ve been more out of line to me than any other person has been to me in a year and a half. F**k you, man,” he said before unclipping his microphone and leaving the studio.
