Pennsylvania Gaming Sees Continued Growth in June

Pennsylvania has reported a year-on-year growth in its gaming market in June.

According to the latest monthly data released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Thursday, gambling and sports betting operators in the Keystone State reported a combined revenue of $471.9 million for June. The figure represents a 7.15% increase compared to the same month last year. However, June’s revenue was 7.8% down from the $521.0 million generated in May 2024.

While other verticals also saw improvement, significant growth in the state's iGaming and sports betting sectors fueled the overall year-on-year increase in revenue. Online slots led the way, with a 21.6% YoY boost to $119.4 million. Virtual table games generated $39 million in revenue in June, up from $34.8 million in 2023.

Sports betting operators collected $464.5 million in total player wagers during June and posted a revenue of $29.9 million. The total was well ahead of the previous year's $23.1 million by 29.6%. As usual, online sportsbooks dominated the market, accounting for $28.5 million or 95.2% of the total sports betting revenue.

Hollywood Casino Retains Lead

Hollywood Casino at Penn National maintained its top position in the state, with $74.1 million in total revenue for the month. However, Valley Forge Casino reported the highest turnover during the month, at 24.8%, which catapulted it to second place with $63.9 million in winnings. Parx Casino rounded off the top three with $50.3 million in revenue.

While other casinos saw gains, six experienced a revenue decline for the month. Mohegan, Pennsylvania, was the worst affected, with a 12.5% drop in revenue to $17.26 million. Presque Isle Downs and Casino followed, with a 3.9% decrease to $9.0 million.

Regarding other segments of Pennsylvania's gaming industry, Fantasy Sports saw a 13.9% increase in revenue to $966,589. Other aspects remained steady with last year's figures, except poker, whose revenue dropped by 9.3% to $2.2 million.
