Payment Provider Citizen Names Dr. Toby Sucharov as CTO
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Citizen, the payment services provider, announces it has hired Dr. Toby Sucharov for the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Before joining Citizen. Sucharov served as Head of UK Innovation at iGaming giant Playtech, where he was responsible for the GPAS product which was capable of processing billions of transactions annually.
Sucharov brings a wealth of experience in the gambling industry and has also had a spell with the gaming operator William Hill.
At Citizen, Sucharov will be tasked with overseeing the technological strategy and guiding Citizen as the company looks for expansion both geographically and through growth in new markets.
Toby brings a great wealth of experience from the iGaming sector and in scaling-up technology solutions, and we look forward to working with him on our mission to simplify the way we pay by leveraging innovations in alternative payment methods.
Sucharov to Play a Key Role
Sucharov will be working with the C-Suite product at Citizen and has praised the service and stated he is looking forward to playing a key part in the next phase of the product’s development.
Coming from an iGaming background, from the moment I saw the technology that underpins Citizen’s payment solution I understood the potential of the product. Whilst on the surface open banking is about secure payments, I believe the added ability to link users to their bank accounts and prove ownership through multi-factor authentication will be a game-changer in industries that are a target for fraud or that have rigorous know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.
Part of Senior Leadership Changes
This latest hire of a new CTO is part of several changes at the head of the company, and follows the recent recruitment of Sarah Ahle to the role of Head of Compliance. Ahle comes to the role having worked at industry leaders eBay and OpenPayd.
