New Sweden Gambling Awareness Campaign for Young People
Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Inspectorate, has launched a new problem gambling awareness campaign to promote safer gambling practices amongst young adults in the country.
Sweden fans at the 2018 World Cup. The new Spelinspektionen gambling awareness campaign focuses on individuals aged 18-25.
Named 'With your future as a bet", the campaign focuses on individuals aged 18-25 and highlights the dangers of unhealthy and risky gambling behaviors. It also directs people to a webpage on the Spelinspektionen website, where they can get valuable information on young people's gambling habits and resources to address potential gambling-related issues.
According to the regulator, the campaign utilizes straightforward and clear messaging to effectively communicate the potential risks and consequences associated with "unhealthy and risky gambling."
To maximize the reach and impact of the campaign, it will be featured across various digital platforms frequently used by young adults, including social media.
Spelinspektionen will work alongside the Public Health Agency and the Swedish Crown Prosecutor to ensure that the campaign's aims are achieved.
Many come into contact with some form of gambling for money via computer games and apps. Through the campaign, we try to talk about the consequences of unhealthy gambling in an emotional way. We believe that the campaign will also be able to speak to adults, especially parents or relatives of children in the target group.

The campaign comes amid Spelinspektionen's crackdown on illegal gambling operators in its jurisdiction. Late last month, the regulator fined two suppliers SEK3m, for providing content to unlicensed operators.
Days earlier, Spelinspektionen banned WiseAvant OÜ for offering lottery-style games for skins to Swedish customers without having a license.
The regulator has also launched two new initiatives regarding match-fixing and illegal gambling operations to strengthen integrity in its industry. The latter will see Spelinspektionen collaborate with Finansinspektionen to counteract illegal gambling activities and prevent money laundering in Sweden.
