New Agreement Paves Way for Popeye Themed Slots
Lady Luck Games, the Swedish slot developer, has signed a deal that will allow it to create games featuring some of the world’s most famous cartoon characters.
The three-year agreement with King Feature Syndicate, a unit of Hearst, will bring characters such as Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Flash Gordon to slots in Europe and Asia for the first time, enabling Lady Luck Games to appeal to a far larger player base.
Starting next year, King Features Syndicate will be working together with Lady Luck to merge the classic character designs with unique gameplay. It is expected that previews of the first games will be on display at ICE London in February.
We are extremely humbled and honored that King Features Syndicate has chosen an up-and-coming studio like ours to represent its hugely popular and world-renowned brands. It shows that our strategy works, and the games that we produce are some of the most beautiful and entertaining in the business. This is easily one of the most important milestones in the company’s history and will make a huge difference in our outreach to both customers and players.
Carla Silva, VP and GM, global head of licensing, at King Features, said that the agreement could see additional world-famous brands added to it in the future. She explained that the company sees “huge growth potential” in the online gaming market and that the company is excited to see the iconic characters brought to reels.
Silva added, “It is important that we choose the right studio who will respect all aspects of our brands. We found all that and more with Mads and his team and very much look forward to a long cooperation where we will co-develop what are certain to be very entertaining games.”
The agreement comes shortly after Lady Luck Games announced their intentions to acquire Revolver Gaming, another development studio.
