Nevada Continues to Set Gambling Revenue Records in 2024

The US state of Nevada has announced results for last year which show that the region enjoyed strong FY2024 revenue, according to figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB).

This statement saw Nevada achieve its fourth straight year revenue increase. With a total gaming figure of $14.6 billion in 2024 compared to $14.3 billion in the previous year, which equates to a 2% increase for the same period in a year-on-year comparison.

The Las Vegas Strip saw a small fall in gaming revenue last year, whereas many areas in the state excluding the Strip saw growth in 2024. During FY2024 areas such as downtown Las Vegas, Reno, and Clark County enjoyed significant increases.

Las Vegas Strip Figures in Decline

The report highlights that there would appear to be a decline in gambling revenue in the Las Vegas Strip. The results saw revenue on the Strip drop by 1% last year, in a year-on-year comparison from 2023. One of the main indicators of this decline is due to a drop of nearly 7% in the revenue generated by the casino game baccarat.

In a breakdown of the growth of gaming revenue in Nevada, one of the main factors attributed to the continued growth in the region is thought to be the increased level of tourism in the area. This is demonstrated by the number of visitors to the state which is up for 2024 when compared to the previous year.

Nevada continued to benefit from consumer’s desire for leisure travel domestically and internationally.

At the end of last year, the Gambling Commission in the state introduced legislation that allowed players in Nevada to use wagering accounts in other venues such as restaurants.
