MGM to Add Expanded Non-Gaming Options at Macau Properties

The Reinvention
Plans are in place for MGM Macau to undergo a significant overhaul, targeting a 60,000-square-foot space on its premier floor. The objective is to transform this area into a sophisticated, versatile MICE venue that aligns with contemporary demands, while becoming a destination available to all tourism segments, not just gamblers.
The vision is not limited to sheer magnitude. MGM, which recently announced that it would expand its gaming options, aspires to craft an environment that offers intimacy and customization. This is manifested in their inclination to host select, high-quality events rather than routine large-scale gatherings.
MGM China Chair and Executive Director Pansy Ho doesn’t see the need to overwhelm the property with a lot of events. She said while unveiling the new plans that the venue doesn’t foresee holding large events in a packed schedule.
This revamped space is not solely about aesthetics. It aims for a dual celebration – its inauguration by the third quarter of 2024, marking the 25th anniversary of Macau's reunification with China, ensuring a blend of culture and sophistication.
New Cultural Pursuits
MGM Cotai is setting the stage for an ambitious enhancement, proposing an addition of a 100,000-square-foot area to complement its existing infrastructure. This proposition, awaiting government approval, is rooted in its avant-garde theme with an emphasis on arts, echoing MGM's overarching artistic vision for Macau.
By committing to an impressive investment of approximately $1.9 billion in non-gaming elements, MGM China is underscoring its allegiance to the realm of arts and culture. This not only aligns with their recent gaming agreement but amplifies MGM's long-standing dedication to fostering cultural enrichment.
To further this artistic narrative, MGM Cotai is joining forces with the renowned Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos. Teaming up with luxury icon Dior, they are set to unveil "Valkyrie Miss Dior," epitomizing MGM's commitment to infuse global artistic flair into Macau's heart.
