Merkur Gaming Withdraws from ICE Stating Several Reasons

Merkur Gaming Group, a subsidiary of the Gauselmann Group in Germany, has reportedly pulled out of the ICE London over the new event dates it considers "inconvenient."

The online gambling provider made the announcement on Friday stating that the company arrived at a decision after considering several factors.

According to the company, the new dates for ICE 2022 (April 12-14) run-up to the Easter holiday period, combined with the Omicron variant raging throughout the United Kingdom, will impact the visitors of the event coming to the UK in a negative way.

Merkur Gaming is one of the largest exhibitors at ICE London. The company is part of the worldly renowned German-based Gauselmann Group, which currently employs more than 10,000 people in more than 40 countries worldwide and, in 2015, generated a business volume exceeding EUR 2.2 billion.

We regard Clarion Events and ICE itself as major factors in Merkur's success in recent years. We hope to be able to re-engage with them at the earliest possible opportunity, but that has to be at the right time, in the right place, and in the right conditions. We look forward to that positive collaboration, we regret having to take the decision that we are now announcing but, under the present circumstances, we are convinced that we have chosen the correct path as an example to and for the benefit of the entire international gaming industry.
