Mattress Mack Wagers $6.9m on Astros to Win the World Series
Many people enjoy placing a bet on their favorite team to win the league, but Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, the owner of Houston-based furniture chain Gallery Furniture, has once again taken it to an extreme.
He is famously a fan of the Houston Astros, the Major League Baseball team, and when they won the 2022 World Series, he won an incredible $75 million. Following last year’s success, the businessman has this year bet a total of $6.9 million on the Astros to once again win the World Series.

Potential Winnings of $43.4 Million
If McIngvale’s bets come through, then he will bank $43.4 million. He has placed $2 million at +450 odds on a pre-American League Division Series (ALDS) bet, which could payout $9 million. He also bet $1.9 million with odds of +600, which would pay $11.4 million, and $2 million with odds of +600, which could pay $12 million. Finally, he placed a $1 million bet at odds of +1100 that could pay $11 million.
A Truly Passionate Sports Bettor
Over the years, McIngvale has bet millions on his beloved team. While there is a chance that they will win the World Series this season, it is extremely rare for teams to win in consecutive seasons. The New York Yankees managed it, winning in 1998, 1999, and 2000. However, they then failed to win again until 2009 and have not won since.
McIngvale has had his ups and downs as a sports bettor. While he won on the Astros last year, he lost his bet on the Super Bowl LVI, having backed the Cincinnati Bengals. However, clearly, this hasn’t put him off, and this year, if the team wins, he is even offering customers at his shop free mattresses.
