Louisiana Queen Baton Rouge Casino Is Due to Open in August
The Queen Casino & Entertainment has announced that after two years in development, The Queen Baton Rouge casino in Louisiana is due to open its doors to the public in August this year.
The new casino was formerly called Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge, and following a change in legislation, the venue will now be part of the state's land-based casino sector. The change in the law came about in 2018 when the state of Louisiana allowed river-based casinos to relocate to the land within a quarter of a mile of its original site.
The new Queen Baton Rouge casino has cost around $85 million to complete and is now situated alongside the Mississippi River.
The gaming operator boasts that the new casino now occupies a footprint of 100,000 square feet, which is up from the former riverboat space of 66,000 square feet. Gaming facilities at the Queen Baton Rouge include more than 700 gaming machines and feature 18 table games.

The Queen Casino & Entertainment Moves Two Riverboat Casinos
The Queen Casino & Entertainment company already owns and operates another four casinos, including the DraftKings at Casino Queen in Illinois, Casino Queen Marquette in Iowa, and Belle of Baton Rouge also in Louisiana.
The new casino is part of a package from the operator of up to $200 million to move both its riverboat casino to a new land-based location. The Bell of Baton Rouge is the other casino that is due to be relocated on land.
Partnership with DraftKings
DraftKings have partnered with the Queen Baton Rouge casino, and the new resort will have a Sportsbook area powered by DraftKings.
The Sportsbook will include state-of-the-art technology, with four betting windows and twenty betting kiosks.
Customers can wager in comfort and enjoy the sports action on the 28-foot video wall or one of the many large TVs located throughout the sportsbook area.
