LeoVegas Returns to the Netherlands with New Gambling Site
iGaming operator LeoVegas has finally reentered the Netherlands with the introduction of its new website, LeoVegas.nl, tailored for Dutch players.
The launch came after the company obtained a new license in the jurisdiction in July through its LeoVegas Gaming subsidiary. The five-year license, granted by the country’s regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), allows LeoVegas to offer casino, live casino, and sports betting options.
The newly established Dutch-facing website provides a diverse selection of online casino games, including tables and slots, as well as live table games hosted by Dutch-speaking croupiers. The platform also has an expansive sportsbook that allows players in the Netherlands to wager on a range of sports betting markets.
The King of Casino is finally home in the orange kingdom. I am delighted that we are taking steps into the Dutch market. The combination of a well-known brand, our platform, and cutting-edge content will make LeoVegas.nl a contender for the leader’s jersey in the Dutch iGaming market.
Two Years Hiatus
The latest development aligns with LeoVegas's aim of expanding its presence in regulated markets. The betting operator was active in the Dutch market before the country’s regulated gambling market went live on October 1, 2021.
However, like several operators, LeoVegas had to suspend its operations in the jurisdiction pending the time it would secure a Dutch iGaming license to participate in the newly regulated market. This was also due to pressure from the Dutch gaming regulator asking unlicensed operators to withdraw from the market or face disciplinary actions.
The process of acquiring the license was lengthier than LeoVegas anticipated. But after two years away, the group is now finally back in the Dutch market.
Partnerships and Acquisitions
LeoVegas has had a highly productive and bustling few months, signing significant partnerships with prominent bodies within the gambling industry. In June, the group partnered with the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) to promote responsible gambling in Brazil.
August saw the company joining forces with MGM Resorts International to unveil the BetMGM brand in the UK.
Last month, LeoVegas also concluded its purchase of a majority stake in game development firm Push Gaming. Additionally, it inked a new partnership with Premier League football club Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. for the 2023/24 season.
