Leadership Change at GBGA as CEO Paul Foster Departs
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:The Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association has announced the resignation of Paul Foster from his role as the CEO.
In a statement released by GBGA Chairman Nigel Birrell, Foster is leaving the organization to spend more time on other business ventures and projects. One of which is his compliance consultancy firm Crucial Compliance, where he serves as the CEO.
In addition, Merel Swarts, GBGA Coordinator, will also be leaving the association to join Foster at Crucial Compliance, where she currently holds the role of Head Of Human Resources & Business Operations.
The association has also announced its decision to replace the role of CEO with a new position of Secretary General and has selected Nicholas Macias for the new office.
Having served as the Chief Operations Officer at GBGA until his departure in 2022, Macias left an indelible mark on the organization. His expertise extends beyond GBGA, as he has also adorned various senior compliance roles within the thriving Gibraltar gaming industry since 2014, lending his invaluable knowledge and skills to enhance its regulatory landscape.
Macias will be joined by Angela Almeida and Bua Malamalatabua from ‘The Dream Team,’ who have been helping the GBGA with website and social media management and engagement, as well as meeting and event set up.
Now, the duo will further expand their roles and take on additional responsibilities in administration and operations at the association.
Birrell ended the statement by expressing the association’s expectations for the future, stating GBGA’s eagerness to evolve its strategy over the coming months. He also underscored their commitment to assisting others in understanding and adapting to the new Gambling Act in Gibraltar, its revised licensing regime, and the introduction of new codes of practice.
