KSA Cracks Down on Autoplay Feature in Dutch Online Casinos
Netherlands' gambling authority, the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against autoplay features within the Dutch gaming market.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:The regulator is re-emphasizing its ban on autoplay features after finding that an unnamed online casino was offering the feature in one of its roulette games.
Upon receiving a tip that the autoplay function remained active on the roulette game, the KSA took action by sending a letter to the operator. It ordered the casino to remove the function and measures be taken to prevent its future use.
Additionally, the roulette game will undergo an inspection to verify that the feature has been completely removed before it is made available to players again.
Autoplay allows players to set their bets to continue automatically, without the need for them to place it manually every new round. However, due to concerns over its role in promoting gaming addiction, the KSA enforced a complete ban on the feature in the Netherlands.
The Dutch market is not alone in its prohibition of autoplay, regulatory bodies in other jurisdictions like Sweden and Ontario have also implemented similar bans.

Tougher Gaming Laws on the Horizon
Already recognized for its stringent gaming regulations, the Netherlands is on the verge of implementing additional rules. Last month, the Dutch government announced that it is considering the introduction of tougher laws after it reviewed the current Remote Gambling Act.
The government plans to introduce a central registry to track players' monthly spending limits across all regulated gaming operators in the region. The minimum age requirement to play online slots will also be raised to 21.
Furthermore, The KSA will be granted more powers to penalize unlicensed operators and block illegal gaming sites in the region.
