KSA Announces Licensed Operators Ahead of Market Launch
With the Dutch-regulated online gambling market due to launch tomorrow (1 October), the country’s regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has revealed the identity of the ten operators licensed to provide gambling in the country.
There are a number of well-known names on the list, but there are also a few names notable for their absence. Licenses have been awarded to the Janshen Hahnraths Group with FPO Nederland, Italy-based Betent, Belgian brand Bingoal, NSUS Malta, which runs the GGPoker.eu brand and sports media and betting business LiveScore Malta.
On the approved operators list are bet365, Tombola, and Play North Ltd. The Dutch land-based casino Holland Casino NV and state lottery Nederlandse Loterij will also receive licenses.
Holland Casino was established so that the Dutch can enjoy the thrill of games of chance in a responsible environment. I see it as our responsibility to make that possible online. Our range of games is great, and our digital environment looks fantastic – and for good reason. Because if we want to offer the Dutch a good and responsible alternative, we must first make sure that they want to come and play with us.
However, some were surprised that JVH Gaming was not on the list, as well as a number of well-known iGaming names. However, many of them are not yet able to receive licenses as, according to the new rules, anyone who operated in the unregulated Dutch market must have ceased Dutch operations for two years before they can reenter.
René Jansen, the KSA chairman, said that more licenses will be awarded in the near future, and applications are expected from many more operators. He added that the market will not look complete until July 2022.
The KSA is also due to publish a ‘Kansspelwijzer’ iGaming guide for players, which will make it easy to check if an operator is licensed in Holland.
