Kansspelautoriteit Slaps Casbit with a Penalty for Unlicensed Gaming
Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has announced it has issued a penalty notice against the Casbit Group, stating its gaming brand lala.bet has been offering games of chance on its website without a proper license in the region.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Kansspelautoriteit had previously warned Casbit that unlicensed games of chance were available through its lala.bet brand, and says it gave the gaming operator a fair warning to remove access to the website.
Casbit indicated that it had blocked access to the website to players in the Netherlands jurisdiction. However, the KSA found that access to the website was still available and felt it had no option but to issue a penalty fine against the gaming operator.
The Gaming Authority (KSA) has imposed an order for incremental penalty payments on Casbit Group N.V. for offering illegal games of chance on the website lala.bet. Offering licensed games of chance is subject to strict rules and regulations. These are aimed at ensuring that there is a safe, legal offer where players are assured of fair play and are protected from gambling addiction. The provision of illegal games of chance is detrimental to that system and the safety of the player, and this is therefore strictly enforced by the KSA.

Details of KSA Penalty against Casbit
In a summary of the penalty notice issued against the Casbit Group, KSA has given further details of the fine for the gaming operator.
Until Casbit permanently ceases operation of its unlicensed offering in the Netherlands, it faces a penalty fine of up to €280,000 a week, which will be capped at a maximum of €840,000 to be imposed. As part of the compliance procedure, Casbit can object to the penalty, and in its statement, KSA has indicated that the operator has appealed against this decision.
The KSA was given increased powers to enforce regulation over the Dutch gambling market and is prepared to hand out hefty fines to gaming operators that breach gambling legislation in the region.
