Kansas Sets New Record Sports Betting Handle in October
Kansas has recorded its highest sports betting handle and revenue of all time in October. At $249.7m, the handle was up 31.5% from $189.9m in October 2022. It was also 13.9% ahead of the previous record of $219.3m set in September.
From the total handle, players wagered $240.9m online, while $8.8m in bets were placed at retail sportsbooks.
Operators generated a total revenue of $14.4m in October. Online betting accounted for $13.1m of the revenue, while retail contributed $1.2m.
Boot Hill Casino and partner DraftKings retained their hold on Kansas’s market in October with $114.3m in bets and $6.3m in revenue.
Kansas Star Casino and FanDuel were next with revenue of $4.8m from $67.4m in total bets. They are followed by Kansas Crossing and BetMGM, with a gain of $1.6m off a $20.8m handle.
Hollywood Casino and Barstool Lead October Earnings
In retail, Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, with its Barstool sportsbook, took the lead with $951,869 in revenue from a $6.3m handle. Kansas Star and its FanDuel retail sportsbook claimed second place with $198,592 from $1.4m in bets.
Boot Hill and DraftKings held the third spot, generating $39,045 in revenue from handling $717,662.
The state received $1.5m in taxes in October. Online betting contributed $1.3m to the tax and retail $122,493.
Kansas sports betting market went live on September 1, 2022, becoming the 35th state to legalize sports betting in the US.
