GAMSTOP Sees 500,000 Players Register on Its Platform since 2018
GAMSTOP, the United Kingdom (UK) self-exclusion service for online gambling, has announced it has now passed the significant mark of 500,000 registrations from players wanting to take a break from gambling. GAMSTOP promotes an annual Self-Exclusion Day event and will be in its third year on September 12th.
Self-exclusion service GAMSTOP has registered over 500,000 players on its platform
The numbers have continued to rise each year for the free-to-use platform in the UK that was founded in 2018, in a surging casino and sports betting industry in the region, and culminated in more than 8,000 individuals registering with GAMSTOP in April this year.
This could be seen as an achievement for all the stakeholders in the gambling industry because they have spent a lot of effort promoting responsible gambling and raising awareness of the array of tools that are available for vulnerable gamblers who want help.
The GAMSTOP service gives players who may have lost control of their gambling the opportunity to remove themselves from gaming activities. The platform gives customers who face potential gambling-related harm the choice to take a break from online gaming for a period of up to five years.
This continues an upward trend and follows the report for last year that shows record registrations in 2023.

The Gambling Commission (UKGC) in the region has outlined details of the customers who have registered with the organization. For players on the platform, they felt that the self-exclusion tool was beneficial, with 75% of players stating they felt more in control after using the service, and the number of players who were satisfied with the results standing at a figure of 78%.
Within the 16-24 year old age range, there has been a significant increase in GAMSTOP registrations, with recent registrations made up of 50% of young adults. This represents a year-on-year increase of 12% for young adults using the GAMSTOP self-exclusion tool.
We have come a very long way since our launch in April 2018 and GAMSTOP is now widely recognised as an important tool to help vulnerable consumers take a break from their gambling. We are proud to have been able to help hundreds of thousands of people to take back control of their lives through self-exclusion and we hope to help many more in the years to come. It is right that we regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the service through independent research and we will shortly be announcing the results of a comprehensive listening exercise conducted by Ipsos, who have surveyed thousands of GAMSTOP’s users”
