Gaming Veteran Sara Slane Takes on Key Role at Kalshi
US exchange and prediction market Kalshi has announced the appointment of Sara Slane as its Head of Corporate Development.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Slane brings almost 20 years of experience to her new role. From 2007 to 2013, she served as Vice President of Regional Government Affairs for MGM Resorts. She also held the position of Senior Vice President at the American Gaming Association (AGA) in May 2018, when the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) was overturned.
After departing the AGA in June 2019, Slane established her own consulting firm, providing strategic guidance and expertise to clients in the gaming and sports betting sectors. In 2024, she took on a consulting role with Kalshi, leveraging her extensive experience to support the company's growth initiatives.
I've spent years in the sports industry, and after my many accomplishments enabled me to set up a successful solo consulting business, I thought I was done working for anyone but myself. This changed when I started consulting for Kalshi a few months ago. Never in my career have I seen a company with the combination of characteristics that Kalshi has: bold vision, outlier founders, deep commitment to regulatory compliance, and astronomical growth.

Expert Guidance in Turbulent Times
The appointment is strategic for Kalshi, which is currently embroiled in legal action over its prediction markets. The company has been issued cease and desist letters in New Jersey, Nevada, and Ohio and is currently being investigated in Illinois. More states will likely follow suit as they determine that Kalshi's offerings violate their gambling laws.
Due to her role in lobbying Congress and the US Supreme Court to overturn PASPA, Slane is often called "the face of legalized sports betting." Her joining Kalshi at this time will significantly bolster the company's efforts to navigate its ongoing legal challenges.
Earlier this year, Kalshi announced that it had hired Donald Trump Jr., President Trump's eldest son, as a strategic advisor.
