Forbes Keeps Macau at the Top of the Luxury Resort Charts
Macau has once again solidified its reputation as the pinnacle of luxury hospitality, maintaining its position as the city with the highest number of Forbes-recognized five-star hotels globally. According to the latest data released in the 2024 Star Awards by Forbes Travel Guide, Macau proudly boasts a total of 22 five-star award-winning hotels, showcasing its unwavering commitment to excellence in the hospitality sector.
Macau a Five-Star Destination
Renowned for its extravagant casino resort properties, the majority of Macau's upscale hotels are situated within these expansive entertainment complexes. Notably, the Paiza Lofts, an exclusive all-suite hotel with a French-themed ambiance located within The Parisian Macao casino resort operated by Sands China Ltd, has emerged as a new addition to the Forbes list of Macau's five-star hospitality establishments.
Expanding beyond the realm of hotels, Macau's allure as a luxury destination is further underscored by the presence of 61 five-star venues on Forbes’ list in 2024. While this reflects a slight decline from the previous year's count of 63, the city continues to showcase its unparalleled offerings in terms of luxury spas and restaurants. Alongside the 22 leading hotels, Macau boasts 16 five-star spas and 23 restaurants, albeit with a reduction of two from the 2023 roster.

Galaxy Macau boasts several other five-star hotels, including the Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau and the Ritz-Carlton, Macau, along with top-tier spas and restaurants within the resort.
Similarly, the Grand Lisboa Palace Macau and The Karl Lagerfeld Hotel have garnered acclaim for their luxury offerings. Both are in the Grand Lisboa Palace property under the management of SJM Holdings Ltd. In addition to the aforementioned establishments, SJM Holdings also added another seven five-star ratings.
Additionally, the British-themed Londoner Hotel and the Londoner Court, integral parts of Sands China’s The Londoner Macao, earned prestigious five-star ratings.
Melco Secures 12 Top Spots
Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd has emerged as another key player in Macau's luxury hospitality landscape, securing an impressive total of 12 five-star awards across its Altira Macau, City of Dreams and Studio City properties. Similarly, Wynn Resorts’ Wynn Macau Ltd clinched 15 five-star awards across its properties, including Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace.
MGM China Holdings Ltd has also been recognized in Forbes' latest list. It secured seven five-star awards across its properties, including MGM Macau and MGM Cotai.
Highlighting the diversity of luxury offerings in Macau, other properties belonging to Sands China, such as the Four Seasons Hotel Macao and the Grand Suites at the Four Seasons Hotel Macao, have been acknowledged with five-star ratings. The Mandarin Oriental earned two five-star awards for its hotel and spa, with its Vida Rica restaurant attaining a four-star rating this year.
While Macau celebrates its plethora of five-star establishments, several hotels have been rated four-star, and two properties have been designated as "recommended." Additionally, two spas have received a four-star award, with the Mesa restaurant at Grand Lisboa Palace also receiving a four-star rating, alongside two restaurants recognized as 'recommended' in the 2024 Star Awards.
