Flutter Becomes GambleAware’s Highest Donor
Independent gambling charity GambleAware has revealed that it received a total of £46.5m ($58.6m) in donations from operators during the 2022-23 financial year. That is 34% higher than the £34.7m it collected in 2021-22.
According to the charity, Flutter Entertainment, the highest donor in the previous financial year, retained its status again by pledging £18.0m across several brands, more than any other operator.
The operator was followed by Entain, who donated £15.2m from its Ladbrokes Coral brand. Hillside, the parent company of bet365, was next with a donation of £5.0m, delivered in smaller amounts of £2.4m, £1.7m, and £907,000.
William Hill was the fourth largest donor with a £4.6m pledge. Between them, the four main operators contributed £42.m, which is 92% of all donations in the year to 31 March. They all donated 0.1% of their gross gaming revenue each year. It is expected that the rate will increase to 1.0% in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
Other significant donations include £445,000 from Camelot UK Lotteries, Rank Group £392,464, 888 £190,000, and BetVictor £188,772.
