"We're scrambling, we're trying to add folks," Pinsky remarked, emphasizing the severity of the situation. Forrest Arthur, CEO of Resurgence Tampa Bay, echoed these sentiments, noting the devastating impact of gambling addiction on individuals and families.
Arthur emphasized the heightened accessibility of gambling through mobile devices, allowing individuals to gamble at any time, anywhere. This increased convenience exacerbates the challenges faced by those struggling with compulsive gambling behaviors.
Seminole Tribe's Response to Gambling Helpline Surge
The Seminole Tribe, currently the sole entity authorized to conduct sports betting in Florida, responded to inquiries about the surge in helpline calls by reaffirming their commitment to responsible gambling practices. They highlighted their support for the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling and their promotion of the helpline as part of their efforts to prioritize player safety.
Despite the alarming rise in helpline calls, addiction treatment professionals like Arthur stress the importance of seeking help.
