FanDuel Teams with Ex NBA Player for Responsible Gambling
FanDuel has proven its commitment to responsible gambling with the launch of a new program.
The new FanDuel program and resource hub provides adults with tools to educate young people on gambling risks.
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:FanDuel Sportsbook has signed a partnership with Randy Livingston, a former NBA player and current coach, and his wife, Anita Smith, a sports agent, to create a responsible gambling program to mark Responsible Gaming Education Month in September.
Titled Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting, the program offers a comprehensive suite of educational resources, including a video series that focuses on topics like the dangers of underage gambling and the value of proactive, informed conversations, as well as where to get help, support and more information.
In the video series, Livingston opens up about his remarkable journey from his meteoric rise as a five-star high school phenom to his struggles with problem gambling in the NBA. Livingston recounts his introduction to gambling, his downward spiral into problem gambling, and the "rock-bottom" moment that sparked his journey towards recovery with the love and support of his wife.
According to Livingston and Smith, their story is being shared to inspire others who may be facing similar challenges. They have also developed a range of education resources covering the risks of gambling, warning signs, and tips for initiating open and honest gambling-related family conversations.
As legal sports betting continues to become more accessible, I knew I wanted to use my experience to help families engage in proactive and informed conversations about gambling. It became apparent to me and Anita that FanDuel shares our goal of helping parents navigate these tough, but important conversations.
