Ex Head of Nevada Gaming Control Board Joins Caesars Board
Caesars Entertainment (NASDAQ: CZR) has announced the appointment of Sandra Douglass Morgan to the company Board of Directors. Assuming the appointment receives regulatory approval, it will be effective from November 7, 2021.
Morgan is considered a particularly valuable addition to the board as she was previously the chairwoman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), which means that she is extremely familiar with the US gambling industry. She has also worked for AT&T, she was the City Attorney for the City of North Las Vegas, and she first became involved in the gaming industry as a litigation attorney.
The appointment was welcomed by Caesars’ executive chairman Gary Carano:
We are delighted to add Sandra Douglass Morgan to the Caesars Entertainment leadership team. Sandra is rooted in the gaming industry in a way few others could be. Her experience as chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and as a member of the Nevada Gaming Commission gives her a deep understanding of our industry. Her leadership as an attorney for gaming corporations and government entities adds another lens through which she has developed a unique perspective which will help our company continue to move forward as the gaming landscape evolves and grows.
During her time at the NGCB, Morgan introduced a number of changes that aided the industry. She brought in changes to the licensing conditions, which helped to tackle discrimination, and she boosted the introduction of cashless betting, which has been of great aid during the pandemic.
Tom Reeg, Caesars CEO, welcomed Morgan, describing her as a “proven leader, team builder, and passionate advocate for always doing the right thing”. He added that he was pleased to add her voice to the board of directors and that he looks forward to working with her.
