Drake Wins A Cool Million on Kansas Chiefs Super Bowl Bet
Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly won big after betting on the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LVIII. Before the event, Drake had disclosed that he had wagered $1.15 million on the Kansas City Chiefs to win because he didn’t want to go against Taylor Swift and his fans.
The 39-year-old rapper’s decision has rewarded him with a winnings of over a million dollars. From his bet, Drake received a total payout of $2.3 million. Although absent from the game, Drake took to Instagram Stories later to rejoice with crepes served on a broken plate.
"Thank you, see ya when I see ya." he texted Stake co-founder Ed Craven.
The Drake Curse
While Drake’s latest winning reflects a change in fortune, the famed 6 God had not always been lucky. In the past, Drake had lost a significant amount of money wagering on his favorite sports, including basketball, football, MMA, and boxing.
Drake has had so many failed bets that it led to the creation of the “Drake Curse” on social media. The superstition suggested that any athlete or team endorsed by The Boy would face defeat. This was evident in a series of betting losses in 2023 including a $275k bet loss on Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington at UFC 272.
In August, Drake also lost $250k when he wagered on Nate Diaz to beat Jake Paul in August. A month after that, Drizzy also lost a wager of $500,000 on Israel Adesanya to defeat Sean Strickland by knockout at UFC 293’s main event. A year earlier, the rapper lost a $2 million bet he placed on Adesanya to beat Alex Pereira.
