NBA Rules Define LeBron’s Sportsbook Partnerships
LeBron, fondly called ‘King James’ by his fans, is the current NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 39,747 points. He is also the first NBA player to attain billionaire status, with an estimated net worth of $1 billion. However, the king of basketball won’t be employing his basketball expertise in his deal with DraftKings primarily because of NBA rules that prohibit league players from promoting NBA betting.
However, the regulations allow active NBA players to promote sportsbooks and even have up to 1% investment in the company as long as it does not, in any way, endorse NBA wagering. This development comes a week after DraftKings appointed Marie Donoghue as its new Chief Business and Growth Officer.
Donoghue is tasked with the responsibility of spearheading growth and expansion opportunities for the company. Before joining the company, Donoghue served as the Vice President of Amazon’s US Sports Content & Partnerships Division.
