Following the revelations, multiple employees of the cruise line were dismissed. According to the whistleblower, who claims to be a Carnival Glory crew member, the scam was masterminded by two casino dealers.

Chip Thefts and Incorrect Payouts

The whistleblower alleged that the two male dealers from Peru were able to use their experience to take advantage of the casino. Because their supervisor was focused on new recruits rather than the more experienced members of staff, the dealers were reportedly left without much oversight, and they “began stealing chips and passing wrong payouts during roulette games.”

The dealers allegedly mixed chips during roulette by incorporating those of varying denominations or by changing bets. In blackjack games, they were said to have paid out losing bets, increased the house’s wagers, or failed to collect losing bets from players.

Furthermore, the two men reportedly avoided recording buy-ins or only recorded the minimum, pocketing the difference. To avoid detection, they manipulated the win/loss ratios on the tables and ensured the float remained balanced.

Detecting the Scam Took Several Months

Eventually, a supervisor observed a dealer neglecting to collect a losing bet from a player. This prompted the supervisor to file a report and request an investigation, leading to a review of the casino’s CCTV footage.

This review uncovered the casino scam, which had been ongoing for about three months. The whistleblower claimed that the casino’s investigation led to the termination of one manager and six supervisors.

Despite this, no formal charges were filed against the two dealers, who had allegedly partnered with several players to carry out the fraud. The whistleblower was clearly frustrated with the way that Carnival Glory handled the situation, saying that while the company punished “innocent staff, the offenders are living happily, as the stolen money hasn’t been recovered and no police report was filed.”

The whistleblower also criticized management on the ship, claiming that staff hours were being cut arbitrarily and citing complaints about Carnival Glory’s Human Resources department. “If you speak up, you get fired,” the anonymous source stated.
