Cypriot Safer Gambling Conference Moves Online
Next week, beginning Monday, October 4, is Cyprus’ Safer Gambling Week 2021, and the National Betting Authority has announced that the fourth Safer Gambling Conference will be taking place online from 10am on October 4.
The purpose of the conference is to inform the public and raise awareness about safe gambling. It will involve a number of industry stakeholders and aim to inspire them to pursue policies that will help protect society from any harmful consequences of gambling activity. The conference will also emphasize the State’s responsibility and that of gambling providers to strengthen player protection mechanisms.
There is an exciting line-up of participants, including renowned academics, scientists, and several professionals from the field of gambling. They are coming from Cyprus and abroad to share their expertise and knowledge about safer gambling. The conference is set to cover a number of topics, including gambling disorder as a public health issue, risk assessment and safer gambling tools and design, the use of artificial intelligence and neuroscience to prevent addiction to gambling, safer standards to enhance the protection of players, financial services as means to reduce gambling-related harm and many more.
There are several additional exciting events over the course of the week. For instance, on Tuesday, October 5, there will be an interactive event at UCLAN University as well as a poster competition for safer gambling. The next day there are a number of talks from experts in the field as well as a session on bridging the gender gap in the gambling industry.
The week will end with a basketball tournament organized by the National Betting Authority together with the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Up to sixteen teams will be taking part, and it will present the public with the chance to learn about safer gambling in a sporting setting.
