Colombian Gaming Regulator Oversees Gambling Advert Restrictions
Coljuegos, the Colombian gambling regulator, has announced several changes to its gaming legislation including placing restrictions on gambling-related advertising.
One of the restrictions on gambling advertising is that when operators promote a product it must carry a warning that betting is not a risk-free activity and clearly explain this to the customer. There are also guidelines that will affect how gamblers can use credit card casino payments and thecintroduction of deposit limits as a restriction on players.
The regulator would like to make it mandatory for all gaming operators to include a range of mandatory tools that promote socially responsible gambling and give players who are vulnerable to gambling-related harm access to help and support.

Sports teams and clubs will need to seek permission from Coljuegos before they enter into sponsorship partnerships or any other gambling-related activities.
Operator Contribution Advertisement Restrictions
As part of the restrictions on advertising by gambling companies, the gaming regulator is proposing that the amount operators can spend on advertising on gambling products is dependent on how much the company has contributed to the government exchequer.
In practice, this would mean that a gaming operator with a new license would only be allowed to spend around 20% of its gross gaming revenue on advertising campaigns.
In the event that an operator exceeds the established range, they will be subject to a fine equivalent to up to 100 percent of the amount exceeded in the investment.
Coljuegos Taking a More Proactive Approach
If these proposed changes are passed, it will mean the regulator in Colombia has a far greater influence on gambling guidelines in the country than it previously held. This can be seen by the Coljuegos saying it intends to try and create a socially responsible gambling environment and put the customer care of gamblers at the heart of its gaming policy.
