The Garden State, known for its thriving sports betting industry and NJ online casinos, has given PLN the go-ahead to offer wagering on the CarJitsu Championship, a unique competition that combines jiu-jitsu skills with the challenge of facing off in a car. Skilled jiu-jitsu athletes go head-to-head in a car and try to submit their opponents using modified jiu-jitsu techniques.

PLN will start featuring markets on the CarJitsu Championship in July. The company hosted the first live championship of the event in March following its debut in 2022.

The NJ approval of CarJitsu betting will further boost PLN's reputation and market share in the sports betting industry. The firm already has 18 sports approved in several markets, including the World Putting League, Pro Carrom Tour, and 3×3 Pro Basketball League str33t.

NJDGE Approves Several Sports

This latest addition joins a growing list of niche sports approved by the NJDGE in recent months, including bandy, billiards, badminton, and lawn bowling, all of which are now available for wagering through licensed operators in the state.

However, while the Garden State is expanding its sports betting offerings, the jurisdiction is also considering doing away with some markets. In April, Senator Kristin Corrado proposed Senate Bill 3080 to ban prop bets on college sports.

According to the supporters of the bill, the proposed ban on college player props will further protect athletes, coaches, and team officials from gambling-related bullying. Echoing this view, NCAA President Charlie Baker has called on regulators across the country to prohibit college player prop bets to protect the safety of the players and the integrity of the sport.
