The last Cage Wars event to take place at Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady was on November 1, 2024, and the next Cage Wars event is scheduled for February 7, 2025, at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. Sponsored by Anthony Constantino’s 21st Congressional District campaign fund, the free event will feature 10 amateur bouts and is expected to draw a sizable crowd of mixed martial arts enthusiasts.

Cage Wars CEO Disappointed About Change

Talking about the change, Cage Wars CEO Timothy Rankins expressed his disappointment over the abrupt termination of their collaboration with Rivers Casino. He described it as a significant setback after years of “hard work and loyal service”. However, Rankins also spoke of the opportunities the transition brings, such as the greater accessibility of future events.

Beyond the February event, Cage Wars is planning another showcase at Armory Studios in Schenectady on March 17. Rankins stressed the advantages of the larger venue, which can accommodate an audience of 2,500, more than double the capacity of Rivers Casino.

Political Ties and Future Plans

The final Cage Wars event at Rivers Casino was notable for the visible support of Donald Trump by Constantino, the sponsor of the upcoming Glens Falls event. The show of political alignment came before Trump won the election. Talking about his decision to back the February Cage Wars event, Constantino stated: “I immediately decided to support this great local business by throwing a bigger event at the historic Glens Falls Cool Insuring Arena.”

Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady is known for its extensive gaming, dining, and entertainment offerings and has described the end of its partnership with Cage Wars as a “solely business decision.” A spokesperson explained that the venue regularly reassesses its entertainment lineup to better align with guest interests and community needs.

The casino, a prominent entertainment hub in New York, boasts over 1,100 slot machines, 67 live table games, a poker room, a 165-room luxury hotel, and several dining and event spaces.
