The construction of the new Caesars Virginia Danville Casino is currently on schedule and as part of its preparations ahead of opening, the company is now looking for 650 new members of staff. It is located at the former grounds of the Dan River Inc’s textile campus and there is already a temporary pavilion open under the Caesars Virginia brand.

The temporary facility employs 430 members of staff, and the new hires will complement them as the permanent site prepares for its grand opening. The facility will feature 320 hotel rooms, a casino floor with 1,300 slot machines, 85 live dealer tables, 24 electronic table games, and a dedicated World Series of Poker Room. The complex also includes a 2,500-seat concert theatre and 50,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

Caesars Hosts Job Fair to Find New Staff

To meet its staffing needs, Caesars Virginia is hosting a job fair at the Bryan Park Conference Center in Browns Summit, running until 3 pm on Tuesday.

The event is open to both unemployed and underemployed individuals, with positions available in areas such as pit supervision, management, public relations, social media, slot attendants, waitstaff, HVAC technicians, electricians, and kitchen staff.

Despite facing challenges, including a revised hiring target and increased project costs, Caesars Virginia remains optimistic. Originally aiming to employ 1,300 workers, the company has received approval from the Danville City Council to adjust this target to a minimum of 900 employees. Current projections suggest the casino will employ around 1,100 staff, with potential for further growth.

Costs Increase Doesn’t Dampen Confidence

The cost of the Danville casino project has surged from an initial estimate of $500 million to $750 million. Despite this, confidence in the project remains high. The Virginia Lottery Board recently confirmed that Caesars Virginia is on track to open by the end of the year.

As mentioned, the casino is being developed on the site of the former Dan River Inc. textile campus, which has been one of the area’s biggest economic drivers for 100 years, and the casino has been designed to honor the location’s heritage.
