Boyd Gaming Corporation to Acquire Pala Interactive for $170M
The Boyd Gaming Corporation is to buy Pala Interactive for $170m. Pala Interactive provides technology that includes online casino and poker products and a player account management system.
Boyd is primarily land-based and is looking to expand its presence in the online gaming market, and the acquisition of Pala fits well with this strategy. A recent partnership with FanDuel is another aspect of this drive towards online betting and gaming.
The acquisition of Pala Interactive marks the next phase in the ongoing execution of our iGaming strategy, providing us full control over the technology, development and customer experience. By integrating online casinos with our existing land-based operations, we will be able to further leverage and monetize our expansive customer database and the amenities of our nationwide portfolio of properties, driving growth in both our land-based and iGaming operations […] We look forward to welcoming the Pala Interactive team to our Company and building a highly successful online gaming business in the years ahead.
Boyd Gaming, founded in 1975, is a gaming operator that now comprises 28 venues spread across North America. The acquisition of Pala Interactive is due to be completed early in 2023 and will be purchased from the current owners, who are the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
Boyd Gaming’s acquisition of the Pala Interactive business positions the enterprise for the next growth phase, which includes the development and execution of an iGaming strategy for Boyd Gaming and a continued commitment of investment and development in Pala’s B2B business.
