Peru’s New Gaming Regulations
The development sees Booming Games leverage the country's recent regulatory approval, following the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism( Mincetur) to approve sports betting and iGaming regulations in October.
Under the law, all online gambling businesses operating within the country must use a Peruvian domain address (.bet.pe/ .bet/ .com/ .pe/.com.pe), establishing a point-of-consumption system. Operators are also required to pay a monthly tax of 12% of their revenues.
The new rules took effect on February 9, 2024. It represented a notable achievement for Peru as it harmonized with other regulated LatAm gambling markets. The law has also opened up prospects for many international iGaming suppliers, like Booming Games, looking to strengthen their presence in Latin America.
